Oxfam collaborates with ethical jewellery producers all over the globe. They also receive jewellery through donations from generous patrons. Receiving jewellery from disparate sources meant there was no consistency with packaging (if it was packaged at all).

All of their jewellery lines are sold in their brick and mortar stores, or via their online shop.

They wanted a way to standardise their offering, as well as a method of displaying each item in-store.

Using Office Team as their solutions partner, they composed a brief to find a packaging manufacturer that could meet their requirements.

Global responsibility

As a world renowned aid and development charity, Oxfam did not want to compromise their ethics with regards to global responsibility. The packaging needed to be environmentally conscious.

The materials chosen, the manufacturing processes, and the distribution all needed to have minimal impact on the environment.

They wanted to work with a manufacturer that had production facilities in the UK in order to minimise the carbon footprint from shipping.

Crucially, being a charity, their packaging brief needed to be achieved in the most cost effective way possible.

Recycled jewellery packaging

Following an initial consultation process, Office Team were pleased to discover that our standard range of purpose designed jewellery display cards would fulfill the Oxfam brief.

We produce recycled jewellery packaging at our UK factory. We had the die cuts and materials to create earring cards, jewellery pillow packs, and hanging tags for necklaces and bracelets.

Our materials are certified by the National Association of Paper Merchants (NAPM) as compliant with their definition of recycled paper. To be accorded the certification, the paper or board must be made from a minimum of 75% genuine waste paper and/or board fibre.

Exceeding expectations

In actual fact, we were able to produce the jewellery packaging for Oxfam using 100% post consumer waste materials.

Their new range of recycled jewellery packaging was created and distributed from our UK factory, meeting the requirements of minimising Oxfam’s carbon footprint.

As the range could be produced from materials that had already been certified, as well as templates and die cuts that we had available, the pricing and timeframe to delivery was kept very low.
